Syngenta Canada enters the inoculant market with the Atuva family of pulse and soybean inoculants

The Atuva family of inoculants are a trusted source of seed- and soil-applied rhizobia bacteria that promote nodulation in pulse and soybean crops for effective biological nitrogen fixation.

“Choosing Atuva inoculants lets pulse and soybean growers maximize nodulation in their crops even when facing adverse agricultural environments such as heat or low soil moisture. Atuva inoculants are also highly compatible with many seed treatments,” says Chris Dumigan, Technical Lead for Biologicals with Syngenta Canada.

He adds that those treating with Atuva liquid formulations will be satisfied with the technology that gives high concentration, low application rate, and long life on seed. This all gives growers lots of flexibility during a busy time of year.

“For the 2025 growing season, two granular and three liquid inoculants will be available from Syngenta, all backed by our industry-leading service and support teams,” says Scott Ewert, Head of Seedcare and Biologicals for Syngenta Canada. “Atuva inoculants have been added to our pulse lineup through a collaboration with RIZOBACTER, known as a global leader in agricultural microbiology and biological inoculant research and development.”

Atuva liquid products

Atuva all-in-one liquid formulations protect active bacteria for extended on-seed survival, giving growers a wider window of time for planting after treatment. The Osmo Protector Technology (OPT) protects the inoculant against common stressors, such as temperature, moisture and seed treatments, by strengthening the cell membranes of rhizobia bacteria.

Atuva easy-to-use liquid formulations boast a high bacteria concentration that allows for low on-seed application rates and are sold in a single container with no mixing required.

Atuva Bold liquid includes Bio-Induction Technology, which helps trigger early nodulation to maximize biological nitrogen fixation, accelerating the communication between the plant and the rhizobia bacteria. Earlier nodulation is important for earlier nitrogen availability to the crop.

Compatibility testing with Atuva liquid formulations and leading seed treatments have been performed at the Syngenta Seedcare Institute, third-party laboratories, as well as by RIZOBACTER, so Canadian growers can manage their on-seed disease protection knowing the inoculant will perform.

The Atuva liquid lineup includes:

  • Atuva Bold for earlier soybean nodulation and on-seed life of up to 120 days
  • Atuva S for soybeans with an on-seed life of up to 120 days
  • Atuva PL for peas and lentils with an on-seed life of up to 15 days

Atuva granular products

Atuva peat-based granular formulations have a large particle size and low dust for excellent flowability during seeding making them easy to use. The large particle size also means there’s a low risk of compaction during storage.1
