In winter wheat, seed-borne Septoria can cause damping-off in the fall similar to seedling blight. The disease can also spread up the plant during the growing season if wet conditions persist. Infected seed is often shrunken and wrinkled. As a seedling disease, plant emergence and stands are reduced.
