Fusarium rot: biology
Fusarium, as we know it, is one of the most important seed- and soil-borne pathogen in potato. More than 10 species are reported in can infect potatoes in Canada. Fusarium is widely distributed in the soil and is found naturally in almost all soils. The fungus enters the tubers through wounds made during seed cutting, harvest, storage and grading operations. The disease progresses as conditions permit, often in storage – either before planting or after harvest.
