The USDA made no significant changes to its 2024 US oat and barley planted area estimates compared to original intentions.
In an acreage report Friday, the USDA pegged national oat planted area at 2.299 million acres, versus its March estimate 2.32 million. Meanwhile, barley area was reported at 2.557 million acres, versus intentions of 2.57 million.
Compared to a year earlier, oat area is up 1% while barley area is down a hefty 18%.
